Causes for the Troops!

This last month I have received a TON of emails asking me to spread the word about this cause or that cause who want to show support for our troops and their families.  I figured I would compile my favorites all up into one big post so you can browse through them and pick and choose :) (Note:  I will update this post as I receive more!)

Tunes for Troops:

Music can be a powerful motivator, and country music speaks to themes that reinforce the simple pleasures in life, like home, friends, family and loved ones – all of which can be comforting to US military members who are far from home. Thanks to a partnership between Liberty Creek Vineyards and Operation Gratitude, consumers can help provide country music to troopsserving overseas!

Country music compilation CDs were specially made for this part of the “Tunes for Troops” program, which helps Operation Gratitude include music in the care packages they send to troops around the world. So how can consumers get involved?

When they purchase a specially tagged bottle of Liberty Creek Wine, they can and enter the unique code found on the tag. Liberty Creek will then donate $1 per code so that Operation Gratitude can include these country music CDs in their care packages!

Mission's 100,000 Acts of Service

This campaign is a truly unique and personalized way to get the general public involved in supporting and bettering the future for our service men and women. We're calling it Mission's 100,000 Acts of Service and beginning July 4th, we're asking people to submit photos, stories, and ideas of ways they support veterans in their communities at Mission's Facebook page at

For every submission, Mission Foods is donating $1 to the Wounded Warrior Project®, up to $100,000, in addition to the more than $250,000 they have committed throughout the rest of this year. We hope to have many noted online community leaders like yourself help submit and promote the initiative so we can create a downloadable e-book once we're done that will feature the highlights from our 100,000 acts of service.

I think it's great that there are organizations out there willing to put up events that can bring up resources that can support our troops. It's great because some people like me like to help people out but there aren't really that much I can do given the limited resources. With things like fund raising, charity events, that's the only time I give support to people, organizations, that is out of the country.
