Whether you opt for bold stripes, a solid sleeveless number or just a little splash of emerald green on your accessories, you're going to want to color your wardrobe with green. Just don't overdo it because the last thing you want is to look like a disheveled St. Patrick's Day shamrock.
Lace it up
Color is only the beginning of fashion trends for spring. Lace is the trend that keeps on trending. Inspired by 1920s flappers as well as, say, Fleetwood Mac in the ‘70s and early ‘80s Madonna, designers as diverse as Alexander McQueen, Jason Wu and Oscar de la Renta have sent lace sashaying down the runway this year.
But is it for everyday wear? Absolutely. While a lace pencil skirt or arm-baring dress is more Friday night on the town, a lace tank top peeking out from a well-cut blazer is office chic, and just the tank top with a pair of skinny jeans and flats is a great daytime look.
Metallics are huge in spring 2013. However, if you don't want to try pull off the science fiction look with a pair of metallic boots or glittery shoes, you can accessorize with medallion pendant necklaces or nautical-style earrings. As long as you have a little heavy metal in your wardrobe, you'll be tres chic. Another hot look: sparkly headbands. While headbands aren't for everyone, a little sparkly pop after a trip to the salon never hurt.
Whether you're buying groceries at the farmer's market or out on a Saturday night, you can look fabulous by incorporating trendy pieces to your outfit. But remember, ladies, all that glitters is not gold, and overkill is just as bad as leaving your house in a pair of sweatpants with your Alma Mater emblazoned along the side. Seriously, they don't even believe in sweatpants in Europe.
Note from me, Cat: I am totally unfashionable. I always leave the house in sweatpants. I love sweatpants. I rock sweatpants. And flip flops. And fuzzy pink slippers. I figure if I wear them long enough, they will come back in style... maybe. Either/or it doesn't matter... this mommy goes for comfort :)
