Learning to Chill Out

Those of you who know me personally, know that I can be a little high strung every now and then.  Ben thinks I might have a little ADHD... whatever.  I like to keep busy, stick my fingers (and sometimes toes, if you will excuse the mental image) in as many pies as I can.  I don't know why I do it.  I just really like to get involved.

Ben has been telling me for years, that I need to take time once in a while to "chill out."  This is a concept that is really hard for me because I like to go, go, GO until I pass out on my bed at night.  I really want to live my life to the fullest and not waste precious time.

So I get "bribed" to chill out.  Ben knows what my weaknesses are.  I really like a good computer game.  If my dear husband knows I need some "me" time, then he orders me a new computer game because he knows I will obsess over it until I finish it... that's a good 30 hours of "chill out" time.

A great way to get me to cool off, is taking me out to dinner.  I LOVE to go out to eat and I will eat super slow and order the biggest yummiest thing on the menu just so I can sit there longer.  And restaurant leftovers ROCK!

Sometimes, Ben will just offer to watch the kids so I can go to the gym.  This is not only great fun, but it helps me work off some of this energy in the form of stress that gets built up.  I love working out.

Once in a while I get grounded from the internet.  I am very passionate about my opinions and beliefs and when I read something that really ticks me off, I get so upset that Ben shuts off my computer and tells me to take a bath... one of those other stress relievers.  This happened to me on Monday when a friend of mine posted something anti-troops on Facebook... on Memorial day!  Really got me going.  Ben took us all on a hike.

So you may have noticed I haven't posted in a few days.  Well, I have been practicing my "chilling out" and focusing on bettering myself and reaching my goals rather than worrying about things I can't control... and that's one of my toughest challenges!

PS If you haven't checked out the summer challenge, please do!  We have a great group of people already signed up and we would LOVE to have more!!  We are also looking for sponsors... (For more information click the purple box on the right side)
