Boot Camp Update & Winners of the Giveaway

Before I announce the winners today, I just wanted to get you a quick update on Ben. I have some bad news. If breaking his toe wasn't enough, last weekend Ben fractured his hip. Yeah, I know, talk about unlucky! He pushed himself too hard in a running exercise and that is what did it. When he called me last Saturday, I thought he was going to cry as he told me he may have to come for 30 days to heal. He only has 3 weeks to go until graduation and it would be put off if he had to come home. He wouldn't have to take Basic again, just pick up where he left off, but he would be behind in his advanced training, and who knows how long he would have to be gone then.

I would be a big fat liar if I said I didn't want to see him again. But really, how exciting can a guy be with a fractured hip!? I also want to see him succeed and finish, but I want him to be able to do his best and not have a broken body holding him back.

However, the good news is, I haven't heard from him all week. I know that sounds like it's bad news, but if he had to come home he would have called me. So I think it is all going to be alright. He has a lot of people praying for him.

Some good news! Ben is proving to be a great leader among his fellow soldiers, and is some kind of official leader of them now. I told him it all comes from being a dad, and getting that daddy-knows-all-you-better-do-what-I-say-or-else attitude and voice. He thought that was funny -- and probably true.

He is also doing really well with his weapon training and scored an "Expert" with his shooting and gets a cool metal. I'm not sure how exciting this is, but he seemed pretty proud of himself when he told me.

Hopefully, he will call me later today. I know he finally got his cell phone I sent him on July 22nd, the other day. I thought I was going to have to report it lost or stolen because it was taking so long and I had sent it priority! Stupid mail people... at least he got it and now he can talk to me much longer than before! Yippy Skippy!

Okay, now on to the winners of this weeks giveaway. Sorry, I am doing so many of these, but they need to be done, and hey, who wouldn't want a chance for free stuff?? By the way, it's all fair, I use :)

The winner of the $30 gift certificate to is:

Damaris, who said: "Hmm, If I got the gift certificate to the eco-store I might try out the vanilla shampoo and conditioner because I love the vanilla smell. At the skincare site the basic four gift set appeals because who doesn't like variety?"

The winner of the $25 gift certificate to is:

Balgram, who said: "The Vanilla and Lemongrass soap both look like a ton of fun, but the Citrus Spray Cleaner is still top of my list. I'd also want to investigate the pet shampoo and conditioner for my other sister's dog. She'd love that!"

Congrats winners!! I will email your email address to the companies so they can send you your gift certificates! Thanks for all of your support and stay tuned, because on Monday I have another fun giveaway planed! Toodles!

I hope he can stay and tough out his training. It can be difficult to go back to Basic after you've been out for a while. It's just hard to get back into that crazy tough mindset.

Expert level in shooting is really good! Go Ben go!

Poor Ben. I hope you are right and that "no news is good news". Expert in shooting, huh? Not to shabby. I'm sure there is some macho pride in being able to say that. It sounds very manly.

Oh my word - a fractured hip?! Sheesh! I hope that he's able to get through the last 3 weeks. I know that it would be great to see him, but it would really stink to have to wait and then go back. Keep us posted!

I hope things start going better for Ben. I hope he recovers quickly. If I had an expert marksman medal I would wear it around my neck like a medalion every day.
